David grew up ranching and farming also worked lugging meat, driving for UPS, and was the Assistant Manager for a small grocery store chain which helped him decide to go back to school. After obtaining both his Bachelors and Masters in Environmental Health and Safety he worked as a Logistics Supervisor for Frito Lay, Inc., Vice President over Customer Service for PST Vans (a 48 state full- truckload carrier), and Motor Cargo (less-than-truckload) and as Dock Worker & Safety representative.
David qualified as both a Safety Engineer and Industrial Hygienist at the Idaho National Labs supporting the Research, Construction, Facility and Site Services, and Nuclear Operations. He was matrixed to the INL Fire Department as the Health and Safety Officer, where in addition to supporting compliance to NFPA and other regulations competed on INL’s Firefighters Combat Challenge team placing 8th and 6th in world finals in 2006 and 2007.
David is currently on Idaho National Lab’s Human Performance Improvement (HPI) leadership team whose journey it is to reduce, improve performance and promoting human ingenuity. David’s Professional Certifications include: C.S.P. (Certified Safety Professional), C.H.M.M. (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), Certified Vital Smarts Instructor: to teach Crucial Conversations and Influencer, Certified Culture Works Facilitator: to teach What Motivates You and All In; and is a Certified Traffic Control Supervisor and Flagger Instructor for A.T.S.S.A. (American Traffic Safety Services Association).
