Dave is a fire protection engineer with Idaho National Laboratory, supporting Facilities and Site Services. He is a graduate of the University of Idaho where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering (1989) and a MS in Interdisciplinary Studies (1999), focusing on fire protection. He is a registered professional engineer in the discipline of fire protection engineering.
In 1990, he started his career at the INL as a mechanical engineer, but after two years transitioned to fire protection engineering. Since that time, he has enjoyed a 25 year career in this field and has been involved in many interesting projects, including building construction, demolition and renovation; fire testing of commodities; fire hazards analyses; fire and explosion investigations; National Fire Protection Association code development; and dust hazard assessments. He is a principal member of 4 NFPA committees, including one which deals with combustible dusts. Currently, he is president of the local chapter for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
