David L. Smith is a loss control consultant for Idaho Workers’ Compensation SIF for seventeen years and visits work places throughout Southeast Idaho helping policy holders improve their safety culture. Meeting with owners he helps them identify safety problems, set safety goals and objectives in order to minimize risk and maximize results.
Dave worked 8 years as a journeyman carpenter on projects such as the Bonneville Dam 2nd Powerhouse, has a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology from Utah State University and a Masters degree in Education, with Occupational Safety and Health emphasis, from Central Washington University.
Previously known as “Safety Dave” to many Seattle area construction workers, his company, Safety Services, Inc. worked to keep them safe for thirteen years. Dave has been with the Fund for 17 years as a loss control consultant and provides a wide range of safety services for companies from supervisor and employee safety training, claims management training, job site safety inspections, the development of site specific safety policies and accident prevention programs.
