Michael Smart is a native of southeastern Idaho and has lived in the Idaho Falls area for 44 years. With exception to 3 years of undergraduate study at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, Michael has found an incessant love for the outdoors and for the things that only Idaho can provide. Michael currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the successful completion and licensure as an Idaho Journeyman Electrician (15 years), a Master’s Degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in Business, and a Master’s Degree in Leadership. Michael is a dedicated family man and is actively involved in his religious institution. Michael is a strong supporter of continuous education, loves to learn, and enjoys sharing and interacting with others.
Michael is a dedicated, hard-driven individual who works as a Risk Manager for Barrett Business Systems Incorporated (BBSI) in the Idaho Falls branch location. Michael is proud to be part of an incredible, high-energy team of professionals dedicated to providing exceptional business management solutions for small and mid-sized companies. In addition to his dedication to BBSI, Michael is an educator at the Eastern Idaho Technical College and currently teaches 3rd Year Electrical Apprenticeship Courses.
Michael brings with him over twenty years of experience in educating others in the classroom and has repeatedly worked to provide quality training and materials to those he teaches. Michael has taught numerous health and safety courses and has spent the last 10 years dedicating his time and energy to helping both employees and management build strong safety cultures.
Over the past several years, Michael has worked as a Safety Professional at the Idaho National Labs for 12 years, as an Electrician for the last 16 years, as an educator for more than 20 years, as a Youth Leader and Mentor, and has most recently joined the incredible team at the Idaho Falls BBSI location in October of last year. Michael looks forward to future and ongoing opportunities with BBSI and with the community.
